Story
Scar Cover Up Freedom Fund started in 2018 after Jess (founder) had her self-harm scars covered in tattoos. This changed her life and she realised that she could help others too. Before her tattoos, Jess was struggling with low self-esteem, fear of judgement, constant reminders of the struggles she had and felt trapped. This led to isolation and anxiety, which stalled her mental health recovery. Having these tattoos gave her confidence and freedom and was key in improving her mental wellbeing. There are so many more people out there who feel like Jess, and can't afford their own tattoos - this is where we come in!
SCUFF started by funding tattoos to cover self-harm scars for those on low income but also now provides training in crisis management for people living or working with others who are at risk of self-harm and has recently started recovery workshops for those who are actively self-harming. SCUFF is now a registered charity and is growing at a rapid pace. With this growth comes the need for funding, which mainly comes in the form of public donations or being awarded grant funds.
Our tattoo waiting list is huge, and the only way we can help all of these incredibly brave people is by raising much needed funds through generous people like you! All of our tattoos are funded through general public donations, with our other work covered by grant funding. Please donate generously, to help provide these life-changing tattoos and be a part of someone else's mental health recovery
