On the 7th September a team of colleagues will embark on 100km ultra race, a non stop event the challenge being to a) finish, and b) finish in under 24 hours. The team will consist of; Joseph Baum, William Esplen, Andrea Bosche, Sophie Hicks, Andrew Whelan, Phil Thompson, Philip Mitchell, Helena Filipa Azevedo Da Silva and Romain Colombi. Further colleagues have kindly agreed to help the team in the support vehicle (Lauren Geary, Helen Richardson-Crespo, Katerina Xenophontos and Jackie Yong).
Having completed a similar challenge over 100km just two years ago many members of this team know too well the extent of the challenge ahead, however are again willing to take this on in aid of the Maia Mouse Foundation.
The Maia Mouse Foundation is a very special charity in memory of Maia Olivia Baum who lost her battle with a complex life limiting condition at the age of eleven months.
After the devastating news of Maia's diagnosis, the family made the decision to make the most of the time left with Maia. She only knew love and happiness and they intended to keep it that way so set out to give her as many opportunities as possible. These opportunities became known as the Adventures of Maia Olivia, some were simple experiences and others took a little more planning.
Maia was incredibly happy, and experienced so much in such a short time. The family were lucky in the sense that they could make these memories happen.
Recognising that living with a child with a life limiting condition puts an enormous strain on the family, this story formed the thinking behind the Maia Mouse Foundation. The charity now fundraises and provides financial support, by way of grants, to give families the opportunity to make memories with their children, to help create even just one memory for those families suffering, makes the whole thing an incredible success.
The charity today is now actively releasing grants to those in need, and is now exploring opportunities to expand the number of hospices it supports. With your help this can and is making a real difference to those who need it most.
Thank you xxx
