Story
Like all charities at the moment LauraLynn is facing many challenges due to Covid19. Naturally fundraising events have been cancelled and yet we still must raise the 4.6 million to ensure our services can continue. LauraLynn is on the frontline of this crisis providing care to families affected by Covid19.
Right now we are supporting children whose parent or primary care-giver is unable to care for them because they are showing symptoms, have been diagnosed with Covid-19, or are suffering extreme exhaustion due to the extra demands during this crisis. We can give them a place of isolation where they are less at risk of contracting this dangerous virus, a virus more dangerous to them than others, and where we can provide the complex medical and daily care that they need.
We are there to allow parents to recuperate knowing their child is safe here in LauraLynn. I'm sure you can imagine the absolute fear and panic of many parents with a seriously ill child right now. Like all mums and dads, they want to love, cuddle and care for their children in this unsettling time. But if a parent contracts coronavirus, those cuddles and care could lead to tragedy. They cannot turn to grandparents or a kind friend for help. Their childs care needs are too complex for that.
Our staff are also working tirelessly to make sure our families have continued support by embracing new technology and adapting ways of working. Our music therapy sessions and counselling sessions now happen through video call. Our team is in contact regularly with families - connecting them with our Family Supports, with other practical supports available; checking on the wellbeing of the family as a whole; and helping to manage the overall health of their fragile child.
