Story
Caitrionation is honored to support World Child Cancer, a non-profit organization Caitriona Balfe has selected based on their pediatric oncology programs--one of the few that provides such care for children in developing nations.
As of January, 2015, we've raised more than $27.5K for World Child Cancer! Childhood Cancer Awareness Day is February 15th so we hope you will all help raise awareness on social media by posting pictures and inspirational messages, and donating if you can! Let's push our total up over $30K!
As of 11 September, 2014, we've raised more than $24K for World Child Cancer! Happy anniversary Caitriots!
Update: As of 20 March, 2014, we've raised enough to pay for an entire year's worth of chemotherapy drugs for children receiving care through World Child Cancer's projects in Ghana! Keep up the good work, Caitriots!
Due to advances in medical research and treatment, 80% of children battling cancer in developed nations will survive. However, the vast majority of children diagnosed with pediatric cancers live in the world's poorest nations where the survival rate can be as low as 5% because adequate medical care is not available.
Caitrionation is the official fan group for actress Caitriona Balfe who is starring in the television adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's epic Outlander Series. As Caitriots--fans of Caitriona Balfe--we want to use our fan-base to have a positive effect on the world. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, and on the web at http://Caitrionation.com
With your donation—World Child Cancer will be able to help more children who will have otherwise gone without care.
In addition to being adopted as the official charity of Caitrionation, The Financial Times is promoting World Child Cancer for its seasonal appeal campaign for 2013/14. This article: http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/2/10e2e780-5362-11e3-9250-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2m0IgVNT6 is very informative.
