Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of friends who are donating our time to give the garden at Butterwick Childrens Hospice in Stockton a full makeover. Due to Covid, the usual volunteer gardeners have been unable to maintain the garden so over the last 18 months, it has become overgrown, unloved and unable to be used by the children. Over the last few Saturdays, we have tidied up the garden, removed weeds galore, cut back trees and plants enabling the sunshine and light to come back into the garden and prepared for the laying of Astroturf. This will mean the garden can be used 12 months of the year by the children and their families. Over 200 hours of hard graft will have been donated by the end of the project. We have managed to raise funds for the Astroturf, new sleepers, fencing etc and borrowed machinery free of charge (Thank you Ashley Manor, Allen Plant Hire and U Hire Ltd along with Simply Landscaping from Yarm for their expertise) but are now asking for your help to raise funds to buy a new trampoline, furniture and plants for the completed garden.
Butterwick House Children’s Hospice is the only children’s hospice in the area. They provide specialist care services for children from birth to 25 years old. For children with complex and life limiting illnesses the hospice offers a lifeline for families in the area who require respite and support.
The service is a home away from home for children and they are often the only trusted source of care available to families who need some time away from their caring duties to recharge their batteries and spend some quality time with their other children.
We are aiming to raise £1,000 to make the precious time that children and their families spend at this amazing place even brighter. Any help you can give would be so appreciated.
