Unity Works staff are walking 5 bridges, from Lambeth to Blackfriars, to raise money and awareness of the shockingly low rate of 5.1% people with a learning disability in paid employment.

Story

On 1st April Unity Works staff are joining together to walk the five bridges of London. We know that going to work is so much more than a paycheque, its part of your identity, ambition, and independence. Work means a healthy routine and purpose to your day, and it also means colleagues, friends and a support network. Which is why its important to raise awareness that only 5.1% of known people with a learning disability are in paid employment. Unity Works strives to bridge this gap in employment. Approaching the issue from both sides, we provide support for people with a learning disability to help them achieve their career goals. We also work with companies across England to support them in disability awareness training, and making their place of work more accessible for people with a learning disability. Your donations will ensure we can continue to offer support to both people with a learning disability, and prospective employers.
