10k Race for WaterAid Canada

Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend 2025 · 24 May 2025 to 25 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
This year I’m going for 10k at the Ottawa Race Weekend to fundraise for WaterAid!
Thought I’d upgrade after doing the 5k run last year but I only have 8 weeks to train! And my last 10k was 10 years ago, pre COVID fatigue and vertigo… so my goal is to run most of it and slowly but surely finish the race.
”Slowly but surely” describes my recovery from long COVID symptoms over the past 5 years. Still not 100% but each year my fitness gets better. So this is the next test - can I run 10k again, now, in my 40s? Like I did a decade ago in my 30s? Guess we’ll see in 8 weeks! 😉
Water is life
I'm raising funds for WaterAid again to promote essential water, sanitation and hygiene services in places where these are not available for all people. We all need clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene, and they are basic human rights. They should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere – but they aren't.
WaterAid's mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalized people by improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. We are determined to make clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last, can people change their lives for good. People can unlock their potential, break free from poverty, and change their lives for good. Children grow up healthy and strong, women and men get to earn a living, whole communities start to thrive. With your support we're working with our partners in many countries to improve water, sanitation and hygiene services, convince governments to change laws, link policy makers with people on the ground, pool knowledge and resources, and rally support from people and organizations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale, to change millions of lives for the better.
