Story
A team of runners from Boston Scientific Farnham are running the Basingstoke Half Marathon to raise money for Stepping Stones DS!
Our fearless team includes: James, Min, Matt, Ruben, Zac, Seb and Harry
On a personal level, our son Bodhi was born with Down Syndrome in January of this year, the first few weeks were a whirlwind of hospital stays, tests, assessments and numerous talks with doctors and healthcare professionals about his condition. When we finally got him home, the biggest question was ‘What on earth do we do now?’. We came across Stepping Stones DS, who specialise in supporting children and young adults with Down Syndrome across North Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
We sent out a hopeful email and within 48 hours we had a welcome pack and a load of useful information. After what had been an incredibly stressful period of time, we started to realise we were not alone and help was there for our family.
Since reaching out to Stepping Stones, we have been fortunate enough to have access too:
- ‘Stay and Play’ sessions for Bodhi, giving us a chance to chat with other parents/carers
- Summer picnic at Camp Mohawk (with free ice creams!)
- Use of a private sensory suite
- Early development classes for Bodhi (starting in September)
- Advice and support when required
Stepping Stones provides these services at no cost, which is absolutely amazing. Any donations would be massively appreciated to help us reach our goal and support Stepping Stones as they have supported us.
Thank you,
James
