Story
We are swimming a mile across Lake Windermere in the Great North Swim, to raise money for scientific research into the cause and treatment of ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy). ME is an an illness that can cause an array of debilitating symptoms such as severe fatigue, painful muscles and joints, sleep problems, gastric problems, problems with memory and concentration etc. There's little known about the cause and treatment, but there is research going on and what's needed most are funds to go to this vital research.
We would love you to help us support this cause, which is so close to us. Charlotte's Mum, Rosey, has had ME for 23 years and we know first hand what a devastating impact it can have on someone's life. You go from being full of life and energy to struggling to do the basic essentials and spending most of your time in bed and housebound. Ayliffe's sister Megan also suffered from ME whilst a teenager and still at school. Not only was she battling with this debilitating illness whilst she should have been out having fun, she was also struggling to get a diagnosis, a problem many people with ME still have today. Although Megan is now much recovered with a family and a job, ME still has a constant impact on her life.
So please help us and help people with ME by sponsoring us for our big swim for ME research.
Thank you, love and hugs xxx
