As we reached our previous targets we have raised the target again! Please help us reach £10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society!! 🙏

Simon's grandma suffered from Alzheimer’s before she died and Colin's family have also been impacted by dementia, which the Alzheimer’s Society is combating through support, society and research.  In July 2022, we will cycle c. 1,150km across Europe, from Basel in Switzerland to Barcelona Spain, to raise money for all those suffering from Alzheimer’s.  

ALL funds raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Society, which is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.  We will cover all the costs of the trip personally, so all of your donation goes directly to the charity to benefit research or support those with Alzheimer’s.  Until the day we find a cure, they work to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.  The pandemic has also had a disproportionate impact on older and more vulnerable people, so support now is more critical than ever.

Over 55 million people currently live with dementia and over 10m new cases are diagnosed every year.  Somewhere in the world, someone develops dementia every 3 seconds.  An aging population is going to cause these numbers to further increase, impacting families across the globe.

Following Simon's bike crash in 2020 and his further operation to remove the resulting metal plate in September 2021, he felt the need to set a goal to get fit again!

This challenge will provide a great opportunity for both of us to get training and improve our fitness levels, have an amazing experience, and raise money for such a worthy cause!

(Oh, and just to make it a little harder, after Barcelona, we'll get the ferry to Palma and then cycle across Majorca to Port de Soller to meet our families for a well earned holiday!)
