Story
We’ve teamed up with our charity partner Outward Bound Trust
to organise the 2022 Big Barratt Hike, to bring colleagues together at their
Ullswater centre in the Lake District. We are taking on the challenge over the
weekend of 2-4 September across two different routes: a 20 mile hike and a 12.5
mile hike.
Our teams consist of:
Julie Smith
Susan Smith
Emer Gallagher
Duncan Garrett
Conrad Poggenpoel
Rhys Linnane
Michael Quinn
Jamie Rhys Leighton
Jack Brady
Simon Cimpeanu
Wyllis Mok
We're tasking each team to raise as much money as possible
to support our charity partners Outward Bound Trust, and Magic Breakfast, who
were the employee’s favourite charity in the latest Barratt Foundation charity
vote. The money raised for Outward Bound
will fund the national youth charity to continue its work making positive
changes in young people’s lives through learning and adventures in the
outdoors, and will help the Magic Breakfast in their work with over 1,000
Primary, Secondary and Special Educational Needs schools, offering breakfasts
to over 200,000 children each school day. These are two extremely worthy
causes, and the whole reason we’ve organised the Big Barratt Hike is to support
both charities and the tremendous work that they do. Given the popularity and
scale of the event we are challenging each and every team to raise £3,500.Good
luck to everyone taking part! Please note: All of the monies raised for Outward
Bound Trust will be matched and donated to Magic Breakfast.
The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity dedicated
to unlocking the potential in young people between the ages of 9-25 through
discovery and adventure in the wild. We give them access to adventurous
experiences through which they can learn to achieve more than they ever thought
possible.
