Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My wife has had Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) since 1995 and it increased in severity gradually over time. Then she had a very bad relapse to "severe ME" in 2013 and has been pretty much bed-bound/housebound since then. Very slowly, by using pacing and being quite risk-averse, she has improved a little, but I am still needed as her full time main carer. I have previously written a song (Ball with no bounce) for ME sufferers and their carers which was well received by people who know about the illness. They say it hits the spot! It has a chorus that says "What makes them think you need a shrink - to make you better"! Thank goodness that the NICE guidelines have now been changed (2021) to remove recommendations about Graded Exercise Therapy (GET) derived from flawed "research" by psychobabblers!
I play as either a solo artist (Andy Bob Beaumont) or with my brother and his son (The Beaumont Brothers) and with a blues/jazz/rock band (The Scapegoats). As my musical activities have increased over the last few years and I'm doing quite a lot of gigs I've decided to donate all profits from my musical activities to the M.E. Association.
This Just Giving page is updated from a previous "Ball with no bounce" page which raised over £500. The page later took on a more ambitious target of £3000 and is now running at more than £6000!
I have a website where my musical activities and gigs are detailed: www.andybobbeaumont.com
and my song specifically about M.E. "Ball with no bounce" can be found on my "Shed Songs" album at:
https://andybobbeaumont.bandcamp.com/
Other albums by Andy Bob Beaumont, the Scapegoats and the Beaumont Brothers are available on Bandcamp too.
Any other musicians who have M.E. or friends/relatives with M.E. or who care for an M.E. sufferer and who want to chip in by donating some of their gig income to this page - please feel very welcome to do so!
