Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In November 2012 our colleague and good friend, Peter Kettlewell, suddenly passed away due to an aggressive type of cancer. On 22nd June this year 11 of his friends will be attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (a hike of roughly 26 miles) in memory of Pete and to raise money for cancer research. Pete was a gifted actuary born in Yorkshire who loved his actuarial models. He used to refer to his more simple "Back-of-the-envelope" models as "Back-of-the-fag-packet", hence the chosen team name. We hope that the money we raise would make a positive difference towards cancer research.
Our team comprises a mix of fitness levels, ranging from hardcore mountain bikers and British Military Fitness aficionado's to mere everyday civilians (who rely on sat-navs, rather than maps, to find their way around). So, it would be an interesting challenge for the team as a whole.
