Kilimanjaro Summit Climb · 18 September 2006
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. We are climbing to the summit of Kilimanjaro in aid of BLISS, the premature baby charity. Every penny counts, so please dig deep and give whatever you can afford - it doesn't have to be a lot, just £5 could provide telephone support for a distressed family.
We are undertaking this demanding trek in aid of BLISS because one in eight babies in the UK is born premature or sick, that's 80,000 babies every year. There are chronic shortages of equipment and specialist nurses to provide care for these babies, as well as a lack of support for their families. Some mothers and babies are transported hundreds of miles just to find a cot in a neonatal unit with the right facilities. The UK has the second highest infant mortality rate in Europe - babies born in Slovenia have a better chance of reaching their first birthday than babies born in the UK.
BLISS is committed to addressing this crisis, to help babies that are born too soon, too small, or too sick to cope on their own. BLISS is dedicated to ensuring more babies survive and have the best quality of life, and it is only with the incredible support of sponsors like you that they are able to achieve so much.
Chances are you know a family that has received help and support from BLISS, maybe even someone that owes that their life to BLISS. It's time to give something back to allow them to continue their essential work - help us to help tiny babies, sponsor us today.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: BLISS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax may be added to your gift at no cost to you. You can donate anonymously if you wish.
You can also help by bidding on or buying our charity memorabilia at: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/international-shop-of-mystery
and you can contact us from that site if you have any questions or fundraising ideas.
