Every day, around two people in Scotland die by suicide.  On July 5th 2012, our world was changed forever when our step-father Ian "Spach" took his own life.  Nothing can prepare you for the devastation, the grief, the roller coaster of emotions and the deep pain that follows such a preventable death.

A series of events preceded Ian's death so we know the "why", we know the "who" and we know the "where" and the "how".  Having these answers has helped us a family but we are all too aware that others in similar situations never have and never will have any answers.

On September the 11th, Liam and I will be doing The Great North Run (half marathon) in Newcastle in Ian's memory.  We will be raising money for SAM-H and The Mental Health Foundation and we have specified that all money raised goes towards the invaluable Suicide Prevention work that both charities provide.
