London Marathon Cut-Off Time

The official cut-off time for the London Marathon is eight hours from when
the last participant crosses the start line, which typically happens around
11:30 AM. This means the cut-off time for most participants would be
approximately 7:30 PM on race day.

What Happens After the Cut-Off Time?

While participants are encouraged to complete the marathon within the
eight-hour time limit, those who take longer won’t be forcibly removed from
the course. However:

  • Road Closures: Roads that are closed for the marathon will begin to
reopen after the eight-hour window. If you’re still on the course at
this time, you may be asked to continue your race on the pavement.

  • Aid Stations: Water stations and other support facilities will close
after the tailwalkers, who follow an eight-hour pace, have passed.

For those aiming to secure an official finisher’s medal, completing the race
within the eight-hour time frame is required.

The eight-hour limit ensures that participants have ample time to complete
the marathon while balancing the logistics of reopening roads and
maintaining public safety.
