Story
A Rocha International has been challenged to raise $25,000 (approximately £16,000) to support and empower A Rocha’s National Organizations. If we reach our target, we will receive an extra $25,000 as matched funding from another donor! This will enable us to support the work of A Rocha teams around the world – providing good governance, mentoring and training workshops and helping teams decide how best to focus energy and resources.
For example, A Rocha International organized a regional consultation, bringing African leaders together to discuss A Rocha’s global vision and build relationships across teams. Inspired by an A Rocha project in Nairobi, A Rocha Ghana invited Raphael Magambo, National Director of A Rocha Kenya, to share his expertise in Farming God’s Way through training workshops in Ghana. This form of conservation agriculture combines biblical ethics and discipleship training with practical farming techniques, which can increase productivity, even on impoverished soils.
While visiting, Raphael was able to see A Rocha Ghana’s work first-hand. At one site in southern Ghana, women have been involved in a mangrove restoration project – planting seedlings and protecting nesting turtles and their eggs. For their commitment, they were trained in alternative livelihoods, including snail rearing and mushroom growing. Raphael will now be able to consider how A Rocha Kenya can also include livelihood and community food programmes within their existing projects.
Your help can give more and better opportunities to support and empower A Rocha’s National Organizations … and with every donation doubled, that means double the impact!
