Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fund raising page for 'Project HOPE'. I'll be cycling 200 miles part of BigBike with my colleagues to raise funds to support this great organisation.
Straight off the bat, I don't want visitors to think I am expecting large sums of donations. Any amount - no matter how small - makes a difference. In fact I prefer small amounts as this will encourage a wider audience to participate. (Of course, if you have more to spare, I will not discourage you).
I know that there are a lot of us who are so busy with our daily lives, we forget that there are other who may be suffering from various conditions - physical, environment, family matters or whole raft of other causes. So events like BigBike are an opportunity to fill that void. It is an opportunity to help organisations out there doing great work by raising funds and supporting them financially. Not all of us can actively help people suffering, but the least we can do is to donate and raise funds for those who are out there in the field doing everything they can to assist.
So now on to the main story and cause...
BigBike is a group of dedicated cyclists at BigHand with the passionate enthusiasm to cycle from London to Oxford, Cambridge and back to London over the course of 3 days to raise money for 'Project HOPE'.
We are really passionate about the charity 'Project HOPE' and its cause to support and provide mental health and resiliency training to healthcare workers and people in need in a time of crisis.
Around the world, Project HOPE’s mental health work is helping tens of thousands of health workers, refugees, and new mothers access the mental health support they need to protect their health and well-being. Lack of resources and trained health workers present huge barriers to treatment, but the social stigma and shame surrounding mental health is often the greatest impediment to care. Health workers are among the most vulnerable to the mental health effects of the pandemic. COVID-19 has placed a huge strain on nurses and doctors, with high rates of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and distress reported among frontline health workers. More than half of those responding to the virus have experienced mental health issues.
We want to fundraise towards this cause to provide mental health and resiliency training. We believe that by going through the tough efforts of cycling for three days, we can bring light to this cause in hope to motivate people to donate what they are able to. We hope that you can be just as motivated as us to give support to healthcare workers to be provided with funded training and support themselves in a time of crisis to get the support they are so deserving of.
