Story
Hello! It's #TeamBoss here! aka Annie, Chief Executive of MASH, and my 6-year-old son Billy.
To mark MASH's 30th
anniversary we're taking on 30 challenges in 30 days! One for every day of September!
#MASH30for30
Our list of tasks is looking good but I *may* take suggestions for challenges on Twitter @annieemery (gulp!) If we can get our fundraising total looking healthy enough - we might just do it!
Also keep an eye on @MASHManchester to see how we're getting on.
I am taking on my #MASH30for30 challenge to mark MASH's 30th anniversary. The whole team at MASH work incredibly hard to support women who sex work to improve their health, safety and wellbeing. Women we support experience homelessness, violence, trauma, mental and physical ill health, poverty and more, and their resilience and strength in the face of such disadvantage is truly humbling. MASH works with women where they are at, offering accessible open ended trauma and gender informed services via a late night outreach van, on foot outreach, a warm and welcoming drop-in centre and a clinic. We also work with key partners across Greater Manchester to improve life outcomes for women who sex work. Our work is life enhancing and lifesaving. But don’t just take my word for it. Women we support tell us:
"MASH is my first, second and third lifeline."
" Thank you for having my back. It's great to know someone
cares."
"MASH saved my life"
2021 marks 30 years since a group of volunteers first got together to support sex workers in Manchester by handing out hot drinks and condoms during the height of the HIV and Aids pandemic. MASH may offer more services now, but our heart and purpose has not changed. We’re still here, and we still have much to do.
I'm taking part in the 30 for 30 challenge to help keep MASH’s vital services running for as long as women need support. All money raised through our #MASH30for30 challenge will enable MASH to continue to offer our life changing services to women
And if you’re inspired by mine and Billy’s challenge – why not do one yourself? You can put whatever spin you like on your 30 for 30 challenge. Will you run for 30 minutes? Draw up a list of 30 mini challenges? Join together as a team of 30 for a group challenge? A 30-day chocolate detox? Whatever your age or ability,
you can do something amazing to help us mark MASHs 30th anniversary. For more
