Story
Hi there,
UPDATE: Just so you know, I completed the run on Sunday in 30.02 minutes which was pretty good considering there was an estimated 15,000 runers there. Thank you once again for all your support - much appreciated!
I ran in the adidas Women's 5K Challenge to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation on Sunday, the 7th of September. This run was dedicated to my brother-in-law's father, Karl, who contracted prostate cancer about 7 years ago. He received treatment in time and the cancer went into remission. Earlier this year, the cancer came back, this time in the form of melanoma and tragically, it's also now terminal.
I know that 5 kms is nowhere near the marathon or triathlon type distances that others have run. However, this does not detract from an important cause that is now especially close to my heart.
Every hour in the UK, one man dies from prostate cancer.
The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation aims to fund the best independent worldwide research into the causes of prostate cancer; to offer better outcomes to men diagnosed with prostate cancer and to enable all specialists to share information.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Prostate Cancer Research Foundation gets your money faster and, if you're ataxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please dig deep and sponsor me now on http://www.justgiving.com/anitawang and help me raise funds to help fight a disease that kills more than 10,000 men every year. This charity relies entirely on donations so every little helps!
Thank you.
