My name is Andrew Finn Magill and in 2010 I lived in Malawi and worked directly with House of Good Health, a UK registered charity that funds the Nyumba Ya Thanzi nutrition centre in Senga Bay, Malawi and was blown away by their initiatives.  

Nyumba ya Thanzi supports children in the community with HIV. These are some of the poorest children in the surrounding villages and many are orphaned or have lost one parent. The children attend the centre, which is next door to the primary school, for daily meals and are supported to access healthcare, including paying for local health care and providing funds to travel to the hospital which is around 20 miles away to pick up medication. 

These interventions are vital for the children to be able to manage their health. They also do fun educational activities at the centre and those children who have graduated to secondary school are supported financially to allow them to go to school. It is a project run by people in the community and has been going since 2008, which is when the centre was constructed. 

Since it is a lakeside sandy location, the building now needs extensive repairs, so money raised at this concert will be earmarked for those repairs and also to contribute towards a better playground for the children. Our fundraising target for these items on the project wish list is £10,000, and any funds raised will go toward that target.
