Hello everyone, For those who don’t know me, my name is Andre Hedger and I am 21 and a profoundly deaf student at Sheffield Hallam University. I worked in a Deaf and Blind School in Ghana as a Charity volunteer last summer and was very moved by the plight of some of the children that I met.
I am going to drive from Cape Town back to the UK across the deserts of Africa with another experienced deaf traveler (Emlyn Burton) during the summer 2008 for a period of 5 months. We will be buying a car and spare parts in South Africa for the trip. We will all grow our beards during the the journey as washing and water will be difficult to come across on some stages of the journey. We will also be climbing to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro (Highest mountain in Africa) to help raise funds for Charity.
UNICEF is a Charity that looks after children all over the world; I am hoping to raise £2000 for UNICEF for the children in Africa with Aids so they can provide special treatments to help the ones who are suffering from this dreadful disease and the children that are left without parents. I am aiming to visit some UNICEF centres to see the work that they are doing in Africa as we drive across the Continent. We will be promoting UNICEF by covering the car with their logos and stickers.
Please dig deep and sponsor me now! If you are a UK Tax payer, an extra 28% in Tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
