Story
My beautiful - if slightly grumpy friend - Garry Levesley has blood cancer, Myelofibrosis (MPN) to be precise. Gary is due to experience the hospitality and support of the NHS in the coming months when he begins his transplant surgery. Not the personality transplant we had hoped for, but a stem cell transplant. Gary’s donor will be one of his FABULOUS family as an exact stem cell match could not be found on the donor register, we have always known he is “unique”. You could also be FABULOUS and sign up to the donor register yourself at DKMS.org.uk and really make a difference.
So, in a brazen attempt to dodge having to break sweat in another charity run around Graves Park and having to increase my subscription to “Tena Lady” I am taking a less vigorous approach to raising money and awareness. I am going to shave my hair off courtesy of the legendary barbers at Fades on Abbeydale Road this November (footage will be made available for a small fee).
There are around 250,000 people living with blood cancer in the UK. MPN voice provide information and support to individuals and their families who have been diagnosed with MPN. Peter Smith AKA my firecracker Dad died of Blood cancer in 2019. Therefore, I am hoping you will help me make this event count in his memory and in support of Gary and others in a similar position.
As I prepare for the big day and look for something woolly and stylish to keep my newly exposed tabs warm (that is Yorkshire for ears😊) in the winter months please give as generously as you are able to and make this one count. Ann-Marie x
