For a few years I have been a volunteer with ARC Hippotherapy. Hippotherapy involves a specially trained physiotherapist who works with the horse as a "live" treatment tool. The work is volunteer intensive as each child needs a minimum of 3 volunteers and a trained physiotherapist specially trained in "Hippo"

It is extremely rewarding and I have seen great improvement in many of the children. The movement of the horse supports the attainment of individualized treatment goals. This therapy can elicit positive changes in children who present with cognitive, motor, and/or psychosocial disabilities.
