"Since the European refugee crisis began millions of people have been forced to flee to Europe by land or sea. For the vast majority of these people, their struggle isn't over: the challenges they face continue in new ways.
Children are growing up without access to education or real homes. Support from NGOs and government bodies is proving insufficient. A lack of support and funding, teamed with unhurried bureaucracy, means lives are put on hold."
This summer, I get to represent my friends at Thighs of Steel whilst suffering through GBDURO* in solidarity with refugees and displaced people. The money you donate will be distributed by MASS Action to fund grassroots projects in Britain, Greece and beyond.
Thank you for your generosity!
*GBDURO is a 1968km self supported bicycle race through Britain (Land's End - Ysybyty Cynfyn - Garrigill - Fort Augustus - John o'Groats). It involves 26700m (3 x Mt Everest) of climbing. Much of the route is off-road and much of my cycling will be after dark. Indoor sleep is strictly forbidden. There are no prizes for winning, completing or participating. I get exactly 10 and a half days from 8am August 13th to complete the challenge. Game ONNNNN!
