Story
Well the time is coming closer to my big climb and suffice to say…I'm getting pretty nervous! Back in December last year myself & Sophie Baxter decided we would embark on a massive challenge together and climb the highest freestanding mountain in the world - Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania! The mountain itself is 20,000ft high (higher than Everest Base Camp!) and the climb will take 7 days in total, ranging from 6-15hrs trekking every day. The climb to the summit on Day 5 will be the toughest by far - starting at midnight, with temperatures at -25degrees and a 15hr trek ahead of us, I am a little apprehensive to say the least!
However, I feel confident that we will reach the top and a big inspiration for me to get there is my Nanny - I decided to do this climb to raise money for The Christie Cancer Charity where she spent a lot of her last days before she was taken a few years ago. The total amount I raise for the climb will be combined into a bigger target of £15,000 that I am wanting to raise this year for The Christie along with my Manchester PA Network - why? Because every time you raise £15,000 for the charity, you get a golden leaf on the Tree Of Hope in The Christie Garden named after someone you have loved and lost - this year, that leaf will be named after my incredible Nanny, Patricia Harthern.
So, that's my little X Factor blurb complete(!), I just hope you can all support me in my quest to get to the top and to my target - it would mean the world to me if you did!
Thank you to all of my friends and family who have supported me thus far
With love, Hayley x
