Story
Steve recently had a massive heart attack. He always said he was immortal and at this time we thought he was, as he was told by many medical professionals that he should not have been alive. He rarely felt pain and to be sat watching crown green bowling at the time of the heart attack no one would have known, and this included himself.
Steve was fitted with a stent and sent home a week later. We all believed he was on the road to recovery.
5 weeks later (Tuesday 17th August) Steve felt unwell again and took himself off to A&E in an ambulance.
On Saturday 21st August Steve became very unwell and could fight no more, suddenly passing away following a cardiac arrest.
Just prior to this I was allowed to visit Steve and I spent 15 minutes sat facing him not realising they were going to be my last moments with him. His final words being ‘I Love You Too’.
Steve’s Mum Mary and I were by his side in his last moments.
Everyone knows the passion we shared was our static home together in Cumbria. Steve was always supporting the Bay Search & Rescue Service making crafts to raffle or just shopping in their charity shop near our caravan. He was very grateful of the voluntary service they provided and often witnessed live rescues (running out to watch them when he heard or saw evidence of a rescue!).
Steve was very clear in his instructions for his funeral arrangements. Respecting his wishes the funeral will be a cremation with only immediate family present. Therefore we are asking for all his family and friends to support this charity in his memory.
