It all started with lockdown hair...

Our late grandfather, Amin Khan, bravely lived with a kidney disease for many years and several other members of our family suffer from kidney diseases too. I (Zak) also have a childhood kidney disease that required me to have chemotherapy treatment when I was 3 years old, due to which I lost my hair. 

When the novelty of having lockdown hair had worn off, long hair had became hard to manage and we wanted to cut it, we tried to think of something positive we could do in memory of our late grandfather and to make use of our once in a lifetime long hair. 

We came up with 2 ideas:

1) inspired by my (Zak) own experience of losing my hair during treatment and by our trailblazing 5 year old cousin, Leana, in Glasgow who donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust*, which provides real hair wigs to sick children and young people across the UK and Ireland, my twin brother (Yousef) and I decided to keep growing our hair until long enough to donate to bring a smile to those children who don`t have hair because of their treatment.

2) to ask for sponsorship to keep growing our hair to raise money for the charity, Kidney Research UK (registered charity 252892 www.kidneyresearchuk.org/), which has leading scientists that work to try and eradicate kidney disease and helps patients and their families both emotionally and practically. 

It would mean a lot to us if you decide to sponsor us to motivate us to keep growing those last few inches needed to make a wig and at the same time help people with kidney disease who are in need of research and support. 

We need to grow our hair to a minimum of 12"/30cm so suggested donations of £1 or £2 per inch or cm. All donations gratefully received :)
