Story
In aid of STAR, we at York Comedy Society are proud to be hosting the Lockdown Comedy Festival, a week-long series of podcasts featuring our friends and alumni from all over the UK, and raising money for an excellent cause.
Due to the current restrictions on live performance and university life in general, we have had to cancel all of our planned shows, but we have instead been producing The York ComedySoc Podcast! If you would have bought a ticket to one of our, or any of the other fantastic societies who are joining us' shows, why not donate your ticket money? No donation amount is too small!
Student Action for Refugees, or STAR, is a national student-led network working to improve the lives of refugees and asylum-seekers across the UK. Made up of over 30,000 students, STAR works to provide volunteers for local refugee projects, while independently campaigning to create safe routes to the UK, as well as improve access to higher education amongst refugees. They also put on fantastic events throughout the year, from talks and exhibitions to film screenings and plays, all to educate the public on the refugee crisis and asylum in the UK.
