Story
First of all thank you for taking the time to check out our Justgiving page.
This year as a branch we nominated York Mind as our chosen charity to fundraise for. As a charity team we had planned an enjoyable evening every month for the year, then Coronavirus happened. Everything closed and now were in lockdown. This does not mean we cannot still do our part to support a vital charity within York whilst having some fun.
On this page and our Facebook charity page, you will see information of charity events that will continue to take place whilst we are unable to leave our homes. These events will include a weekly pub quiz, mini quizzes and possibly the odd virtual raffle. If you have any ideas please feel free to leave a message on the Facebook page and we'll see what we can do.
According to The Guardian, 'researchers found that on Tuesday 24 March, the day after the prime minister ordered people in Britain to stay at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, 38% of study participants reported significant depression and 36% reported significant anxiety. This compared with 16% reporting significant depression and 17% reporting significant anxiety the day before the announcement.'
On top of this the lockdown has seen York Mind take a 48% loss in fundraising, for a charity that solely depends on donations this is an issue. We are all able to do our part to help so they can continue the incredible work.
On behalf of the entire team at Betty's Stonegate and York Mind, thank you. Any small donation or idea can really help in this unprecedented time.
Stay safe, stay home, stay happy.
