5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

Your presence at our wedding is more than enough so, no gifts are required. Instead we have set up a fundraiser for a wonderful charity that is close to our heart…

Since 1994 we’ve been closing orphanages and working with families, communities, local authorities and governments to keep families together, reunite families and build new ones. Their vision is a world in which children no longer suffer in orphanages.

The world doesn’t need orphanages. Orphanages harm children and society. Most will experience violence, abuse and neglect. Deprived of stable and nurturing relationships, over 5.4 million children around the world face lifelong mental and physical health issues as a result of growing up in an orphanage.  But shockingly 8 out of 10 children in orphanages have family members who would care for them – they don’t need to be there.

In Ukraine, where for nearly 25 years they have been keeping families together and working with the government to move children out of orphanages. Their primary concern is for the safety of the country’s children and most immediately, for the 100,000 children confined in 700 orphanages – that’s more orphanages than England has hospitals. Their team in Ukraine are providing practical, life-saving support for children and vulnerable families. They have already rescued 63 vulnerable children, carers and their families from Ukraine.  It was a long arduous journey, but they are now safe in Romania, getting the care and support they need.  Working with the local authorities, they are continuing to support the most vulnerable children and families in Ukraine, as well as those who’ve become refugees in Moldova and Romania. They remain committed to protecting these children, and will do so for as long as it takes. Without generous donations, the Hope and Homes for Children team simply wouldn’t be able to keep these children safe.

Their emergency Ukraine appeal information can be read on their link here: - https://www.hopeandhomes.org/blog/ukraine-appeal/

They are a small organisation with limited resources so we urge everyone to get involved and get donating to make a difference!

We appreciate every penny!
