Story
On the 17th April 2016 I set off with my good mate Ritchie Peet up Ben Nevis, the starting point of an epic journey with my friends helping along the way. On 24th April 2016 my eldest friend David Arundell will run with me in the 2016 Virgin London Marathon at the end of the journey, probably his last chance of ever completing the marathon distance at the age of 73.
Here's where it gets interesting!
Running up and down Ben Nevis is challenging itself, however its the start of an epic bike ride which will see us pass through Scotland, England and Wales stopping only to climb their highest peaks:
Ben Nevis (Scotland, 1344m), Scarfell Pike (England 978m) and finally Snowdon (1085m).
My friends up and down the country have all pledged allegiance to getting me through the journey by cycling alongside me and running the hills. I'll finish my journey in London prior to the London Marathon and complete it as team iGotDOMS with David. I am hoping to have raised a massive £10,000 for Cystic Fibrosis along the way.
My good friend Keith's son Alfie has Cystic Fibrosis. He knows no different to his daily breathing exercises, lung clearance techniques and breathing difficulties. To him this is all normal, so whats the fuss?
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-shortening inherited disease and it affects 10,000 people in the UK.
I remember being at school with sufferers and the average life expectancy being in the twenties. Its now into the 40's and rising.
Alfie deserves the care and attention, research into cause and support network that we come to expect with all life limiting conditions. To gain and continue that we need donations therefore I am prepared to dedicate my training and ultra events to this little man and a wonderful organisation. Please join me in donating as you follow this years frivolities.
