Story
Alais, Tess and Stephanie are clearly enjoying their Dales Dippers dip at the Eel Pool in the Yorkshire Dales. The question is, what are they talking about or thinking? Or even, what might someone else with saying or thinking when watching them from behind the trees? What is actually going on during their dip?
Many of us love dipping and swimming in the UK rivers and we also enjoy the encounters we have with the native wildlife. We dream of wild, healthy, natural rivers valued by all but to get there, we need to talk about pollution. There are currently no designated bathing waters in UK rivers. This means recreational river users anglers, swimmers, canoeists, paddlers, you name it are at risk every time they wade into the water. With your help, we can change that. The Rivers Trust want to introduce designated bathing waters for well-used rivers across the UK, so you can swim, paddle, catch and play without worrying about pollution. To do this, we need to create a comprehensive national monitoring programme, so we can observe the scale of the problem and provide strong data to back up our case. However, we need your support; without your donations, we simply cannot gather data on the scale necessary to see bathing water standards introduced.
If you have a witty caption for the picture, why not share it in return for making a donation to The Rivers Trust? It doesn't have to be big, even just one good old UK pound will do, but larger amounts are very welcome.
Please remember to post your caption on the thread on the Dales Dippers Facebook page as well as on here. The caption competition will be open until 28th August 2020, following which a winner will be selected to receive the painting.
