Story
Place2Be (Charity number 1040756) is delighted to have been chosen as the benefitting charity for the 2021 Women of Achievement Luncheon. 100% of your donation will go towards funding one-to-one counselling sessions for vulnerable children effected by the COVID-19 pandemic in schools in Scotland.
We would be incredibly appreciative if you would consider donating something towards this year’s Appeal.
- £50 could pay for a child struggling with trauma, to have a 50 minute one-to-one session with a counsellor
- £80 could allow 11 children to book their own appointment with a mental health professional about issues like anxiety, low mood or self harm
- £150 could provide specialist support for seven parents who are experiencing challenges such as abuse or addiction
- £10,000 could pay for 1428 to speak to a qualified counsellor in a lunch time drop in
- £20,000 could pay for 400 children in Place2Be schools in Scotland who are struggling with issues like trauma as a result of the COVID 19, to have a 50 minute one to one session with a counsellor
- £33,000 would pay to put a Place2Be team in to a new school for a year to provide a "whole school" approach.
How Place2Be works
Three children in every class have a diagnosable mental health problem. Pupils cannot thrive at school if emotional issues distract them – and teachers cannot teach effectively if pupils are not able to focus on their studies.
Place2Be is a leading provider of school-based children’s mental health services. Now in our 21st year in Scotland, we work in partnership with schools to build awareness and skills around wellbeing, provide one-to-one counselling for children, and run Place2Talk drop-in sessions where children can talk about their worries. Many of the school communities we work with across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Dundee face poverty and complex needs. Currently, our services support over 22,000 pupils and their families in 45 schools.
Our Vision
For all schools in the UK to have access to high quality, effective, evidence-based mental health support.
Together we can achieve more
