We provide palliative care and pain relief to all of those in need in Africa

Story

At the January Zoom meeting of the Ormskirk Catenian Circle we had Chris Merriman giving us an after meeting presentation on the work and history of Hospice Africa, my chosen chosen charity for this year..

The charity main aim is to provide palliative care. They do this by the manufacture of morphine on a large scale to give many people a dignified and painless end of life experience. They started in Uganda but now operate all over Africa. More details can be found on their website www.hospice-africa.org.

The local connection is the Merriman family parishioners of St Anne's in Ormskirk. Our Circle supported Hannah through the bursary fund to travel to Uganda to visit the charity in Uganda and she has been fundraising for them ever since. and her family member Dr Anne Merriman started the charity.

We asked members to consider donating some of their Circle dinner refunds forthis very worthy course.
