Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to help me "raise some dough" for Ukraine. I am going for a week to help this amazing team on the ground. 100% of donations will go to their Ukrainian project. To read more about what they are doing:
Operating a fleet of six pizza & freezer vans out of the city of Lviv, feeding orphanages, community halls and all kinds of shelters, full of Internally Displaced People (> 8million IDPs in Ukraine today, many more than those who have sought shelter in the West). Their reach is now extending; as on 07 July, two vans travelled nearly 1,000 kms further South East to near Odessa.
While their activities are now almost entirely based within Ukraine (where the greatest need is), they continue to work with trusted Polish contacts to feed refugees taking shelter within Poland. As an example, ‘Poland Welcomes’ is housing 500 refugees and they are supporting their food bill every month – and supplying them with fresh fruit and veg.
My wife's family was from Lviv, when it was part of Poland, before the Russian occupation after the second world war. Fleeing by train, her grandmother, who was then a child, was separated from the rest of her family. They were rounded up and sent to a Gulag where they tragically died. Her grandmother made it to the UK and built a life here. My grandfather served in the Polish army and airforce as a doctor during WW2, creating my own feelings of solidarity for the brutal suffering inflicted by this war today.
