Story
Hello,
Last year I walked 60 miles for charity. I was asked just after I'd finished if I'd do it again and I said no. In August I'll be doing it again. (Though a different route this time, a nice hilly one along the South Coast from Eastbourne to Arundel).
I can't exactly tell you why because I vaguely remember it hurting and being really really tired after 27 hours of walking. But I suppose it was sort of fun and very rewarding. And of course a charity will benefit from my efforts, so it's not completely egotistical.
This time around I've chosen to walk for Young Minds, which is a charity that helps improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. And it doesn't need me to say how important a charity such as this is. After reading Matt Haig's Reasons to Stay Alive the seriousness of the related illnesses hit me, so I'm doing my bit, however small.
EDIT: From June 3rd I will be cycling from John O'Groats in Scotland to Land's End, England. I never planned to do this for charity, but I've decided to do just that. Donating here will be in support of my walk and cycle. All proceeds going to Young Minds.
Thanks.
Update:
walking 60 miles this time, got the better of me. A combination of sunstroke and swollen feet meant I sadly had to pull out after 40 miles. Really gutted not to have finished. Thanks all for your kind donations and sorry I didn't manage to finish.
