Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
Although times are hard, we should never forget. As a memorial to the men who gave their lives flying these aircraft, as well as recreating an extinct icon of aviation history, we are building a Westland Whirlwind fighter from World War II accurately and precisely down to the last rivet - for display at the Kent Battle of Britain museum, for public education.
It is funded entirely by donations, and we are doing it phase by phase. The cockpit is nearly complete, the rear fuselage is underway - but the funds we have don't go further than that. This appeal is for phase three - the distinctive 'T' tail that says 'Whirlwind' to those who know, and which will make for a striking exhibit for everyone else - returning the Whirlwind from extinction and rescuing it from obscurity.
