Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I am raising money for Medical Detection Dogs in celebration of the most amazing man John, my loving, loyal partner of 26 years through thick and thin, who had the gift to make me and so many others laugh every day. He touched and enhanced many other lives too. I love and miss him so much, but knowing he would have both thumbs up for this page, it will also help me channel my loss positively, I have already sponsored and named two dogs to join the magical MDD team - look out in the future for Johnnie and Mabel (named after his lap cat!)
John was in constant awe of Nature, the countryside and animals. He could not walk past a dog, though, without stooping to talk to it and he had such admiration for working dogs whether rurally rounding up sheep, helping for the good, working in the Armed Forces or alongside the police. He found the Medical Detection Dogs particularly intriguing.
Upon his untimely and sudden death and prior to the pandemic, I decided to ask for donations in Johns' memory, for the MDD charity. Many of our friends and family had no idea about these special four-legged friends and their powerful noses, inquisitive ways, love of detection. We donated nearly £3.5K to the charity! And again before the arrival of Covid-19 I had already sponsored to name two dogs to train in detection of disease or help alert others in need. It seems surreal that these dogs are now on the front line sniffing out this terrible pandemic which we knew nothing about on September 12th 2019. John will be absolutely over the moon to know he still continues to reach out to help others albeit from another place.....and the joy to know we continue to raise awareness and more funding for the dogs to be trained to support, detect and save lives - for me, this whole process has bought immense comfort and new-found energy to continue my journey with new fortification!
