Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

In memory of our beautiful daughter Wren who was born sleeping on 3rd December 2017.

I am looking to raise funds and awareness for the SANDS charity (Stillbirth & neonatal death charity) which understandably is very close to my heart.

We have experienced first hand the benefits of the work that Sands' carry out right from the start of our journey and know they will be an invaluable resource to us for years to come.

In hospital we were given a Sands memory box, these are provided free of charge to healthcare and are a place for parents to create and keep memories of their baby, the midwives at the RD&E spent time with us, helping us to take hand and footprints and photographs and to make as many memories with Wren as possible during the time we had with her. Our memory box has also given us a place to keep mementos and gifts we were given for our baby girl since we came home and is something that we will forever treasure.
In recent years Sands' donated a Cuddle Cot to the RD&E - The cuddle cot is a cold pad that can be wrapped around a baby that has been stillborn, allowing parents to stay with them for longer. This gives parents time to grieve and start to come to terms with their loss, as well as enabling other family members time to meet the baby and say goodbye.

The Sands' charity works in so many ways with families to help them cope with the loss of a child, providing a network of support with meetings, groups and online forums to allow parents and families to share their experiences and seek comfort in their times of need. Their fund raising focuses on these 3 aims:

To support anyone affected by the death of a baby
To work in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care
To promote improvements in practice and fund research to help reduce the number of babies dying

Thank you for all your support!!!
