Story
Hello all, and welcome to our JustGiving page!
We (Sergio, Anna, Crispin, Sofia, Rosie and Vandit) are six Warwick University students who were selected to teach English and Maths for 4 weeks in Morogoro, Tanzania, as part of the Warwick in Africa programme.
What is Warwick in Africa?
Warwick in Africa (WiA) is a programme aiming to have a positive impact on the quality of teaching and learning for the benefit of learners in partner schools, located in Tanzania, Ghana and South Africa. WiA has sent volunteer students to teach in partner schools since 2006, reaching over 130,000 students. WiA supports partners in sustainable ways, through student support, but also thanks to teacher support programmes, which are a boost to teacher morale as well as to the quality of their teaching practice.
Why are we taking part?
- We believe that no child should miss out on opportunities because of educational inequalities. We perceive education as a tool for the empowerment of individuals and hence as a propellant for change and progress in disadvantaged communities.
- We want to inspire and motivate learners, and make maths and English fun and enjoyable.
- We want to serve the Morogoro community and learn from teachers and students we will be working with.
Please help us raise £6,000 to keep Warwick in Africa running and have a lastful impact!
