Remembering Emma

Emma Walker joined Money for Nothing after seeing the first series. She mailed in pictures of her beautifully wallpapered furniture and we knew from that moment that she was, just like her wallpaper, perfectly matched to join our team.
Emma transformed many tip bound items into truly beautiful, useful pieces of furniture bringing them from the brink of the skip and back into use. She was inspiring, funny and a complete natural on the telly. She soon became a favourite artisan. The wallpaper lady from Brighton and her lovely dog Badger. (Filming had to stop every time anyone arrived so Badger could say hello properly and then resume once he had settled back on the sofa)
The lovely feedback from all watchers, encouragement and messages that Emma received gave her confidence that she said she had often lacked. Inspired by what they saw her do so effectively, other people were tempted to try wallpapering like Emma. Many have contacted us to say how generous Emma was with her advice and guidance, sharing the secrets of her success with anyone who asked.
We loved having Emma on our team and we were devastated to learn of her illness. We will miss her unique talent, wonderful way with words, her “heart on sleeve” attitude that made everyone warm to her and zest for living.
We have asked Emma’s family if we can raise some money in her name and they have suggested donations for the Martlets Hospice in Hove that helped look after Emma. She said she was “snug as a bug” in her garden room and that Badger had been to see her there. If you would like to send a message about Emma or to donate if you can, that would be amazing.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
And for people who have asked about Badger, he is safe and well and being looked after by a friend chosen by Emma and much enjoying his new trips to the allotment.
Sending love and strength to Emma’s family, friends and everyone who welcomed her into their homes on the TV.
Sarah and the Money For Nothing team.
