Story

Since our daughter, Lucy's diagnosis with Cerebral Palsy, Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales have been a constant support for Lucy and us as a family. Through individually tailored physiotherapy sessions at the Centre, we have been able to use these exercise programmes at home with her. Without Bobath's early intervention programme and expertise, Lucy's future would not have looked as bright. From watching her learn to crawl and walk, the transformation has been nothing short of miraculous and life changing. 😘❤️
Earlier this year, Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales changed their name to Cerebral Palsy Cymru. They have done this to ensure their new name and identity reflect their position as experts in Cerebral Palsy, their Welsh heritage and most importantly to ensure they are easily found by families living with Cerebral Palsy. Their therapists will continue to be Bobath trained; they have simply turned Bobath on its head so it is now their foundation and put Cerebral Palsy at the forefront. ❤️
The devastating COVID-19 Pandemic has literally turned people's lives upside down. The charity immediately entered the most fragile financial period it has known to date and has dramatically impacted their fundraising efforts. The closure of its shops and a halt to many of their fundraising activities, led to staff redundancies, including therapists and the down scaling on work on a new, purpose-built children’s centre; befitting of a centre of excellence with the capacity to be able to see many more children and families in Wales. Currently they are unable to see all the children on their caseload, even once a year. They are predicting a £100,000 deficit next year.
Despite the challenges, within days of the lockdown, they had re-invented their very ‘hands on’ and face to face, specialist therapy service to a virtual one via video call - with just six of their most senior therapists who were not furloughed. We have been very fortunate to be one of the 88 families who have been able to benefit from this service during this difficult period.
October is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. ❤️ In order to help Cerebral Palsy Cymru rebuild and continue to be there in the future for the children and families across Wales living with Cerebral Palsy, fundraising activities are being held by families this month. Our 'Dancing Queen' Lucy has decided to undertake 'The 7 Challenge' by doing a Danceathon! Lucy will showcase her eclectic dance styles over 17 days in a range of 17 costumes that will rival any performance on Strictly Come Dancing!! 💃😁 🎉😘 Please consider donating to the fundraising page and help Cerebral Palsy Cymru. Lucy will undertake her Danceathon throughout October but you can donate via this page until the 6th November. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Diolch o galon. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lots of love, Llinos, Bruce, Lucy and Lawrence xxxx
