Story
The Well Foundation Eye Camp delivered through partnership with Blackhall Mosque provides free treatment for the poorest and neediest in central Punjab. This year the project is supported by UNITY, SADCO Foundation and JANNAH.
In a nation of 212 million cataract accounts for nearly 66 percent of all blindness. Surprising to hear yes but sadly with a lack of human resources, coupled with a lack of training facilities for qualified ophthalmologists and soaring costs the prevention measures are difficult to achieve. The problem is compounded further by a lack of the necessary infrastructure combined with little modern technology at the district level. Poorly maintained equipment and the absence of any referral chain along with a lack of awareness or monitoring and evaluation, also play a part in the problem.
The programme has been running in and around the district of Toba Tek Singh for the last 6 years. Providing, free screening, free perscriptions on the day, free cataract operations and free aftercare at a professional clinic. On each camp day patients also visit our medical doctors, we provide free consultation and perscriptions on the day. Each cataract operation costs £45. Please donate your Zakat and Sadaqah towards this much needed project.
