Story
Our community has well over 600 Muslims and continues to
grow rapidly, with many families settling here permanently and calling this ‘home’. We have immense richness within our community and have many nationalities (British, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Egyptian, Moroccan, Jordanian, Syrian, Algerians, Zimbabwean, and much more) that we represent and we have an urgent need to establish solid foundations for the Islamic and moral future of our community especially our children.
At the present moment, we are renting a community centre
space which is sufficient for the time being but not a long term solution. We wish to have a purpose built facility where we can come together to pray, run educational classes such as Arabic, Maths and English classes for our children, undertake sports activities (such as indoor football, cricket, table tennis etc), have a regular point of contact with the statutory services (West Berkshire Police, Ambulance, Fire, NHS, housing associations, Town Council, local charities etc.) where we can provide assistance and reassurance to those in need, promote cultural understanding by inviting others (of any faith or none at all ) to associate and share points of view.
With this in mind, we are looking to raise at least £500,000, allowing us to either purchase a building or acquire suitable land upon which to build.
Our Vision is to have a facility where we can establish the
following services:
- Prayer facilities
- Ramadan activities
- Eid Celebration
- Islamic, Maths and English education
- Community activities
- Youth Club
- Social Activities
- Representation within statutory services
