Story
To raise additional funds for my Captain’s Charity this year I am planning to play 100 holes of golf in one day to mark 100 years of West Byfleet Golf Club. During that time I will be covering the equivalent of a marathon whilst trying to maintain my swing! However, the effort will be worth it as my Charity, Eikon, is such a worthy cause. Based in Fullbrook School, less than a mile from the West Byfleet GC clubhouse, Eikon work across Surrey supporting children, teenagers and young adults. Many have had a tough start or have needed to overcome difficulties in their lives. Eikon support them to become resilient, confident adults who contribute positively to their communities.
I won’t be alone in this quest. As you can see from the cover photo on my JustGiving page, I will be joined by Colin Harding (undertaking his 12th Golf Marathon!) and Stewart Nisbet. We aim to start the challenge at 5:00am on Monday 20th June and knock in the final ball in the hole at approximately 7:00pm. I know times are difficult at present, but please give as generously as you are able to this excellent charity who do such valuable work in our community.
Thank you.
Founder and Chief Executive of The Eikon Charity, Chris Hickford MBE, stated:
“We are only able to help the large number of young people that we do because of the support of kind and generous people. We are so grateful to the fantastic members of West Byfleet Golf Club for choosing Eikon as their charity of the year.”
The Eikon Charity supports children and young people to overcome difficulties, become resilient and develop into confident adults who contribute positively to their communities. They believe in prevention, and where that's not been possible, in helping early on, before a concern becomes a crisis. Eikon works with young people in schools and communities across Surrey working with and through partners to deliver services that improve young peoples physical and emotional wellbeing and mental health.
