Why I am Doing This?
Just before the 'global lockdown' I was fortunate to complete a field trip to Pakistan with Orphans in Need, where I saw first hand the work OiN are doing to transform the lives of the most vulnerable orphans and widow mothers. I met happy children, with amazing etiquettes, full of life and ambition. Children like Mariam who was orphaned in infancy, but as an OiN sponsored child for the last 7 years is now becoming an ICAP Chartered Accountant. Children like Sidra who lost her father as a child but with the ongoing help of OiN over the years is now specialising in Mass Communication with a view to becoming a journalist, (already secured an internship with one of the country's top broadcasters). And children like 10-year old Ishrat who lives in one of the OiN orphanages and has memorized more than half of the Quran.
But then there were children like 9-year old Omar (pictured above) who are waiting for a sponsor. He lives with his widowed mother, and walks 45 minutes each way to school and back everyday. They live in a room, with no functional toilet or kitchen, in the depths of poverty. Yet when I spoke to him he was determined to grow up to give a better life to his mother.
There are thousands of Omar's who need the help of OiN, and with your support can get it. I have taken it upon myself to in sha Allah get 100 children sponsored and I need your help to achieve this. The OiN Sponsor an Orphan Programme is a holistic strategic initiative that takes a long-term view of educating these children and making them self-sufficient, which will ultimately enable them to take themselves and their families out of the poverty cycle.
