Story
Early in May this year I got the worst phone call of my life from my bestest and beautiful friend Lisa...her youngest son had been diagnosed with Leukaemia.
Since then the little man, who turned three one week after the diagnosis, has fought hard with vicious chemotherapy, relentless hospital stays, tests and operations and has this battle for three years. After this though the prognosis is excellent due to the amazing progress of this charity. Last year I ran my first 10km for this charity as my dad's rare blood cancer has been kept at bay thanks to them. And now I find myself needing to thank them again at saving my dearest friends little boys life.
Their battle as a family of four children aged 5 and under is another tale of remarkable resilience, beautiful bravery and is truly all about the magic of love. On top of this, this family are all having to move back to Australia early next year ...
...well you can see for yourself as Lisa has written the most amazing, witty and heartfelt Team Benny blog, which she updates weekly: "the narrative of a leukaemia mum" and maybe share with someone you know that might take comfort if going through a similar nightmare. Have a look...

This event I am organising is a 5km walk/run along the beautiful part of the Thames on Sunday 27 Sept starting at 1pm River Lane (off of Petersham Rd) Richmond finishing at the Boaters Inn in Kingston upon Thames and is an invite for everyone, all ages, to join in - prams, scooters or runners. It's a social event more than a sporting challenge to raise awareness and support for the families going through this juxtaposition of sheer unimaginable hell and yet heart-melting and overwhelming kindness. It is on Lisa and Bernie's doorstep in the hope that Benny will be able to make a guest appearance if he is well enough. Please email me if you'd like to join in victoriakate100@gmail.com. Xx
