Story
As you know, I am Non-Executive Director at Dorset County Hospital and I have decided to help raise funds for a new cancer centre that is being built at the hospital.
We all know people who have been affected by cancer and one in two of us will be touched by cancer, a family member, a friend or someone at work. .
The Cancer Appeal is aiming to raise £1.75 million to build a new cancer outpatients department and we have raised over £1 million so far. This will result in bespoke spaces that will transform the experience of cancer patients coming to the hospital by enabling counselling and support to be offered in rooms right next to the outpatient areas. The chemotherapy unit will also expand, giving family members space to sit with patients receiving chemotherapy, which they are currently unable to do.
So rather foolishly, I decided to do my bit by being sponsored to do the Blenheim Palace Triathlon. My training is progressing reasonably well (!) although I'm not attempting to do any open water training as it's too cold.. the pool is good enough. Jeremy has found me a local loop to cycle train on and is putting me through my paces, as you would expect! I still hate running but I am forcing myself to get out there and do it.
It's a fantastic cause and will make a real difference, so I would greatly appreciate it if you could sponsor me - thank you.
