When my friend mentioned the Thames Path Challenge to me it took me a while to agree to it and even now I'm not entirely sure I know what I have got myself into... 50k, that's 31 miles, which is going to take about 12 hours - eek! Starting at Putney Bridge and ending up at Runnymead, the walk follows the Thames Path. Please see the link for more information. www.thamespathchallenge.com

Without question I knew that if I was going to do this challenge I would want to fundraise for Victim Support. A national charity giving free and confidential help to victims of crime, witnesses, their family, friends and anyone else affected across England and Wales. They are not a government agency or part of the police and you don't have to report a crime to the police to get help. You can call the organisation any time after the crime has happened, whether it was yesterday, last week or several years ago.

As most of you probably know I started off as a volunteer for Victim Support and after 6 months secured a permanent position. It is the best company I have worked for; although harrowing at times it is such a rewarding feeling when you are able to help those victims and witnesses of crime who quite often have no family or friends to turn to. Victim Support quite literally becomes their lifeline. Our volunteers do the best job in supporting victims of all crime from burglary and harrassment to domestic violence and sexual violence.

I would really appreciate it if you were able to sponsor me for this walk. If you have ever been a victim of crime or know someone that has been, however serious, you will know it leaves the victim with an awful feeling of being violated. You may have family and friends that you can turn to but so many people dont.
